Unclogging a Slow Drain With Thieves Cleaner

Written by Heather Steiner

My bathroom sink has been draining really slow lately.  The other day, it got to the point where it wouldn’t drain at all.  So, I got out the plunger and managed to drain the sink, but when I ran water in it again, it was still draining really slow.

Thieves Household Cleaner BlogI have a thing about using caustic chemical drain cleaners.  I think it’s my kids’ voices in the back of my head, repeating what they heard on Finding Nemo, “All drains lead to the ocean,” and I really don’t want to be pouring chemicals into the ocean.

I’ve tried all the boiling water, vinegar and baking soda, etc. solutions, and I don’t know where my husband keeps the snake to clean out the drain, so in desperation I slowly poured a couple capfuls of Thieves cleaner down the drain and walked away.  I ended up getting called into work shortly thereafter, and so the sink sat unused for the next six hours.

Now, my sink is draining fine.  I even checked with my husband to see if he did anything to fix it, and he said he hadn’t!  Thieves Household Cleaner is already so versatile, but it’s always great to discover new ways to use it!
